The New York Times reports that WebMD is teaming up with health insurers to provide private access sites to provide consumers with online administration of corporate health programs, medical recordkeeping, information and comparisons of costs and ratings for doctors and hospitals.
Managing their healthcare is a challenge for consumers, not only from a financial perspective, but because of the overwhelming amount of information. Providing a single point of entry for information, applications, administration, etc., makes sense for consumers. This offering is a natural extension for WebMD whose brand is well known for providing consumers with trusted, comprehensive advice on medical issues.
Now if someone could just come up with a way of simplifying the yards of billing and insurance forms patients receive after a hospitalization or outpatient surgery…
